enjoyable to use this machine...
...after 10 years the old DC2 had faded to a whisper so it was time for a replacement...emptying the old model was a real chore so I thought about something else and toyed with the alternatives...however in the end it was another dyson and I must say that the telescopic arm feature is great for minimising storage as is the wrap-around cable facility. The body click-on accessory feature is good and the machine effectively sucks as a dyson should do...a couple of weaknesses: the plug/cable retractor is not so strong but if you keep at it, it finally retreats...and the telescopic feature needs initial fiddling with and getting used to, to make it stay still and not concertina in use...but these are relatively minor quibbles...the design and overall functionality still make this model an excellent choice..and don't underestimate the psychological satisfaction of seeing all that junk accumulate in the see-through canisters...oh and emptying is better than the DC2 but still not as convenient as using a bag, so 4 stars from me!

Compact and efficient
I live in a small cottage without much storage space so this Model is perfect as the hose is wrapped tightly around the body, and the brush clicks on the front after use and can be tucked away neatly under the stairs. Once you get used to clicking bits into place it's easy to use, has great suction and is easy to pull around. Emptying the cyclinders is a doddle as is cleaning the filters. My only warning would be this: if you aren't very strong or have back problems, you may have trouble carrying the machine up and down the stairs. As I said it is easy to pull along from room to room, but it isn't as easy to pick up and carry. This is not a problem for me, however, so five stars remain.

No Other Vacuum Does It Better
This little wonder may cost an arm and a leg, but it makes up for it with its supreme performance. What's quite shocking is the amount of unseen dust that this Dyson picks up, that you would not normally see, when using other cleaners.

Having already vacuumed with another cleaner before hand, and then re-vacuuming the same area with this dyson, it was able to pick up a staggering amount of extra dirt, that the other cleaner and my eyes could not visibly detect.

The ergonomic design means it's amazingly space saving, and very 'cute' to look at.

Although as other reviews have pointed out that the auto-cord rewind facility was under developed, i can't help thinking that this is an unjustified critiscism, as it generally isn't as problematic as others would suggest.

The overall weight of the product can be a problem for extended use, so this Dyson is clearly not recommended for those with back problems. The long 'wand' pipe, can also mean that shorter people may struggle when trying to re-position the pipe.

The suction itself is generally on par with most other cleaners, and wheras other cleaners may lose their suctioning power over time (due to clogged bags and wear and tear), it appears the Dyson doesn't.

This Dyson is recommended for those with extra cash to spare and want prolonged performance...well worth the money.
